Broward County Water and Wastewater Services Proposed Retail Water and Wastewater Rates FY15

Broward County Water and Wastewater Services currently provides water and/or wastewater services to areas in the City. Please be advised that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners will be holding a Public Hearing to consider amended water and wastewater rates on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Broward County Governmental Center, 115 South Andrews Avenue, Room 422, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. The public hearing for the proposed water and wastewater rates will be held immediately following the second public hearing on the recommended Fiscal Year 2015 County budget scheduled at 5:01 p.m.

Fiscal Year 2015 proposed rates (as shown in the attached exhibit) reflect an overall increase of 2.1% for water and 4.0% for wastewater charges. Based on water usage and tiered rates, the cumulative impact of the rate increases would be 3.0%. The average residential customer with 5,000 gallons per month of water consumption will experience an overall increase of $1.74 in their monthly water and wastewater bill -- from $58.49 to $60.23 which also equates to a 3.0% increase. The proposed rates are necessary to fund operating costs, debt service costs and cash financing of the capital program.

The September 23, 2014 public hearing will be televised and webcast live. For information on participating cable stations, visit www.broward.org. For information about Water and Wastewater Services please visit our website at www.broward.org/waterservices.
