COVID-19 Meeting Adjustments

Hybrid City Commission Meetings

The City of Lighthouse Point will be temporarily conducting "Hybrid" City Commission meetings allowing both virtual and in-person attendance with some elected officials and City staff participating via the Zoom meeting platform.

To allow for social distancing, there is limited seating available in Fletcher Hall, and will be first come, first served. Members of the public wishing to attend an in-person meeting will be required to adhere to temperature checks, wearing a facial covering while in the building, and maintaining social distancing.

To protect the public health, safety and welfare of the community, the City of Lighthouse Point municipal offices remain closed to the public.

Meeting Information

At least two meetings must be held per month; special meetings are called by the City Clerk upon request of the Mayor or any three Commissioners. All regular and special meetings are open to the public. In the event that, for any reason, a regular meeting date must be changed, three days prior notice of the change is given in a newspaper of general circulation.

Form of Government

The City of Lighthouse Point is governed by a Mayor/Commission form of government whose essential components are an elected chief executive known as the Mayor and an elected legislative body known as the City Commission. All are elected by qualified electors on an at-large non-partisan basis. The term of office for the Mayor and City Commissioners is four years, and all persons elected to serve as Mayor or City Commissioner shall be limited to 12 consecutive years of service.
