COVID-19 Meeting Adjustments

Virtual City Commission Meetings

The City of Lighthouse Point will be temporarily conducting "Virtual" City Commission meetings utilizing communications media technology ("CMT"), in accordance with Governor Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order 20-69, as extended by Governor Ron DeSantis’ Executive Orders 20-112 and 20-114, related to conducting local government public meetings while under the public health emergency related to the spread of Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

To protect the public health, safety and welfare of the community, the City of Lighthouse Point municipal offices are closed to the public.

Attending & Viewing the City Commission Meeting

The normal City Commission agenda outline will be followed. The meeting will be broadcast live for members of the public to view using the Zoom virtual meeting platform.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14th. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. Virtual meeting procedures are available the Friday before the meeting.

Meeting Information

At least two meetings must be held per month; special meetings are called by the City Clerk upon request of the Mayor or any three Commissioners. All regular and special meetings are open to the public. In the event that, for any reason, a regular meeting date must be changed, three days prior notice of the change is given in a newspaper of general circulation.

Form of Government

The City of Lighthouse Point is governed by a Mayor/Commission form of government whose essential components are an elected chief executive known as the Mayor and an elected legislative body known as the City Commission. All are elected by qualified electors on an at-large non-partisan basis. The term of office for the Mayor and City Commissioners is four years, and all persons elected to serve as Mayor or City Commissioner shall be limited to 12 consecutive years of service.
